Mobile Pizza Catering Statistics, 2026

We mapped every mobile pizza oven caterer we could verify in America — 1,564 caterers with 201,180 guest reviews between them. Here's where the industry actually is, which states have the most caterers per resident, and how deep the wedding specialization runs. (Journalists & bloggers: cite freely with a link.)

Which states have the most mobile pizza caterers per capita?

Nationally there are about 4.6 mobile pizza catering services per million residents. The per-capita crown goes to Connecticut at 22 caterers per million — 81 caterers for a state of 3.7 million people — with Wyoming at 17 and Vermont at 17 close behind. Mobile pizza catering follows the events calendar more than population: destination-wedding states and states with long outdoor-party seasons keep more ovens rolling per resident than the raw-population map would predict. At the other end, Louisiana has just 1.1 per million — worth knowing if you're planning an event there, because the good dates go first.

#StateCaterersPer million people
1 Connecticut 81 22
2 Wyoming 10 17
3 Vermont 11 17
4 Oregon 48 11.2
5 Rhode Island 12 10.8
6 Maine 14 10
7 Utah 27 7.7
8 South Dakota 7 7.6
9 Colorado 43 7.2
10 District of Columbia 5 7.1
11 Massachusetts 50 7
12 Delaware 7 6.7
13 New Mexico 12 5.6
14 Indiana 38 5.5
15 Washington 44 5.5

By raw count the big states still win — California has 201, Florida has 113, Texas has 108 — but per host, Connecticut is the easiest place in America to get a wood-fired oven to your party. Downloadable: mobile-pizza-caterers-per-capita.csv.

Two sources, one directory: Maps-verified + web-only

Most directories stop at Google Maps. We don't — because mobile pizza caterers are service businesses that travel to you, plenty of real operators run on a website and word of mouth without ever claiming a Google Business listing. So we compile from two sources: 1,282 Maps-verified caterers (ratings, reviews, photos) plus 282 web-only caterers found via organic web search — 18% of the directory that map-only sites simply never see.

SourceCaterersWhat we can verify
Google Maps listings1,282Ratings, review counts, photos, location
Open web (own websites)282Services offered, from their own site — clearly marked "web-only", never ranked
Total1,564

Web-only listings are always labeled as such on their pages, carry no star ratings, and are excluded from every "best of" ranking — rankings require public review evidence.

Wedding pizza caterers, state by state

Caterers with wedding evidence — weddings named in their own materials or in guests' reviews — as a share of each state's directory. These are floors, not surveys: a caterer only counts once we've seen proof, and the counts grow as our crawls continue.

What the industry offers: wood-fired ovens, oven rental, and more

Beyond the headcounts, we mine each caterer's own website and its guests' reviews for the things event planners actually ask about. These counts require evidence, so they're floors that fill in as enrichment lands:

These attributes are exactly why we badge listings: browse wedding pizza caterers, wood-fired caterers, pizza oven rental, corporate event caterers, menu add-ons & services, and all event & oven types.

America's densest pizza-catering cities

Caterers per 100k residents, cities over 50k population. Raw counts favor the biggest metros, so this table is the other lens — the mid-size cities where mobile pizza catering clusters hardest per resident (destination-wedding country, mostly).

America's most underserved pizza-party cities

The biggest US cities with zero or one listed mobile pizza caterer based in town — hosts there book from the surrounding region, and operators looking for an open market could do worse than this list. Largest: Charlotte, NC (pop. 943k) · Louisville, KY (pop. 794k) · Nashville, TN (pop. 730k).

Full table: underserved-cities.csv. "Based in town" is the operative phrase — mobile caterers travel, so an underserved city isn't an unserved one.

Methodology: caterer counts from our continuously maintained national directory — public Google-Maps business listings plus web-only caterers found via organic web search (marked as such, never ranked); attribute counts (weddings, corporate, wood-fired, oven rental, licensed & insured) mined from the caterers' own websites and customer reviews; population = US Census 2024 estimates. Per-capita = caterers ÷ state population × 1,000,000. The directory is refreshed periodically as new crawls land, so counts are floors that grow over time. Want the dataset for a story?
